1977 Esso Road Atlas of Great Britain

A scan from the 1977 Esso Road Atlas of Great Britain, showing the M5 running north-south, the A38 truncating at J27, and the A373 in both its directions from the old A38 towards Tiverton. This is before the Dual Carraigeway between J27 and Tiverton was opened. Of curiosities interest is that the old A38 was numbered not the B3181 as it is now, but the B3176. Also of interest is that the map shows the A38 emerging from the M5 where the pre-M5 Cullompton Bypass ended.
